Abstract

The influence of surface treatment (electroplating Cr, Cd-Ti and ion plating Al) on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of ultra-high strength steel 300 M in 3.5% NaCl solution has been studied by using slow strain rate technique (SSRT) and WOL plain strain precracked specimens. The tensile properties of 300 M steel in air influenced by surface treatment process have been determined by using SSRT. The SCC mechanism of coated 300 M steel in 3.5% NaCl solution has been proposed based on the results of artificial occluded cell tests, electrochemical measurement and fractography analysis.
