Tooth surface design of spiral bevel gears based on meshing performances and work offset

摘要

Three meshing points on the tooth surface were designed according to the contact pattern and transmission errors. The meshing quality was controlled exactly through control of these three meshing points. To meet different processing demands, the processing parameters of pinion was redesigned according to the given value of work offset, thus maintaining the magnitude of transmission error with little variation of contact pattern. In the end, a pair of gears was designed by Gleason software and this approach respectively, showing the consistency of these two designs by comparing the tooth surface, contact pattern and transmission errors.
