N2 - Based on the local synthesis method, the tooth cutting of non-zero modified spiral bevel gear was researched. By proper selection of the spiral bevel gear modification coefficients, the load bearing capacity can be raised and the structures of the tooth surface can be improved. The meshing behavior is optimized with the help of controllability of the second order contact parameters. Comparison between the non-zero modified spiral bevel gear and the gear based on Gleason formula, tooth root thickness is added up, the maximal tension stress, compressive stress and contact stress of non-zero modified spiral bevel gear are markedly reduced.
