The improvement and application of very large eddy simulation approach

摘要

The very large eddy simulation (VLES) approach is one of the most widely used hybrid approaches. This paper proposes an improved VLES model based on VLES approach to overcome the deficiencies. This model is assembled with Menter’s k-ω SST model. The integral scale of turbulence is used to replace the Kolmogorov length scale in resolution control function, and the length scale is redefined to prevent the modelled stress dissipation in boundary layer. Four test cases are selected to validate the performance of the new method, that is, the Taylor-Green vortex, the turbulent flat plane, the flow past a 30P30N airfoil and the flows over a single cylinder. The simulation results are compared with experimental and numerical results. It is observed that the new VLES model is quite efficient for the turbulent flow simulation.
