Static Response and Failure Behavior of 2D C/SiC Cantilever Channel Beam

摘要

In this paper, the static response and failure behavior of 2D C/SiC channel beam were investigated experimentally and numerically. During the experimental test, both the local micro-buckling and the material nonlinearity phenomena could be observed, and the material nonlinearity had a significant effect on the overall response. To interpret the effect of internal damages on nonlinear response, the constitutive equations with damage variables were used in finite element modeling (FEM), and the FEM results had a good agreement with experimental results. In addition, the damage distributions and damage degrees could be also obtained by FEM. The failure criterion based on damage variables was adopted to predict the failure of 2D C/SiC channel beam, which was verified to be able to predict the initial failure location. From the failure morphologies, it was found that as the existence of defects the local damages can be also inevitable for 2D C/SiC channel beam.
