N2 - Aiming at the activity overlapping by releasing preliminary information in concurrent product development process, product maturity was presented. According to the activity overlapping degrees, the algorithm based on maturity for calculating the rework caused by activity overlapping was presented. Based on those, the rework caused by activity overlapping was calculated toward coupled and uncoupled activities, and the activity overlapping model driven by product maturity was constructed. Then the time optimal model of product development process was obtained by analyzing and transforming the overlapping model. Finally, the validity and the optimization of the model with an instance were proved, and it shows that product maturity has a great advantage in describing and controlling the activity overlapping.
