Fe3O4/P(AA-DVB) magnetic composite microspheres are prepared by deposition method with the interaction of electrostatic adsorption and mechanical force. Firstly, free-soap emulsion polymerization and coprecipitation are used for preparation of monodisperse P(AA-DVB) colloid particles and Fe3O4 nanoparticles, respectively. Then, Fe3O4 nanoparticles are adsorbed and embedded on the surface or into the inner of P(AA-DVB) colloid particles via the interaction of electrostatic adsorption and mechanical force. The advantage of this method is that the particle size and diameter distribution of magnetic microspheres can be controlled by adjusting the precursor colloid particles. The distribution of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and magnetic content of Fe3O4/P(AA-DVB) magnetic microspheres can be adjusted by the mechanical force action time. The average particle size of Fe3O4/P(AA-DVB) magnetic microspheres is 542 nm and the magnetic content range is 11%-33%.
