N2 - Nanomaterials, especially for one-dimensional nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and carbide ceramic nanowires (e.g., silicon carbide and hafnium carbide nanowires), possess super-high strength, ductility, nanometer scale, excellent high-temperature stability, and large aspect ratio, making them ideal reinforcement additives for developing advanced ultrahigh-temperature structural composites used in rocket propulsion systems. In this chapter, the application of nanomaterials in carbon/carbon composites and carbon/carbon coatings will be discussed.
