摘要

Melt process has been extensively studied as an approach for making high Jc (B) YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) superconductors. In this paper, a review is given on the recent progress of the processing technology, microstructure and Jc (B) improvement in several typical melt processes. Melted and unidirectional solidfied YBCO rods of over 10cm in length were prepared by a zone melting method. A new melt approach 'Powder Melt Process' (PMP) has been developed. The transport Jc measurements shows that the PMP samples have very high Jc values which exceed T1000A/cm2 at 77K, 1T and 36000A/cm2 at 77K, 4T. It is believed the reduction of weak-links density, the crystal alignment and the strong pinning effect are responsible for the high Jc (B) values of melted YBCO samples. A discussion is presented with respect to the characteristics of microstructure, Jc properties and the pinning effects of the melted YBCO conductors.
