摘要

In this work, Ti48A12Nb2Cr alloy was induction melted and cooled in Al 2O3 based crucibles with ZrO2 and Y 2O3 protective coatings respectively. The effect of superheating parameters (melting temperature and holding time) on melt-crucible/coating interface, microstructure, chemical composition and microhardness is researched. The result shows that Y2O3 coating presents the least "α-case" among the three refractory materials, although the Y2O3coating is dissolved and eroded by the molten TiAl. The alloys were contaminated with O, Zr and Y, which mainly dispersed in the reaction layers, leading to a decreasing microhardness profiles from the surface to the inside of samples. The interaction between crucible/coating and the TiAl melt is controlled by dissolution and erosion mechanism and the extent of that depends on both superheating temperature and holding time.
