摘要
To explore the dynamic mechanical characteristics of ice, uniaxial compression tests were carried out in the strain rate range from 500 to 2000 s-1 by using the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) technique at -25 and -10°C, respectively. Molds were designed to manufacture ice samples, and a cooling chamber was developed to meet the low-temperature condition. Pulse shapers were used to achieve constant strain rate loading. Experimental results show that the dynamic stress-strain relation of ice is nonlinear, the peak stress and failure strain increase with the increase of strain rates, and the compressive strength of ice decreases with the increase of the test temperature.
