Abstract

Derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), carbon-based materials have attracted significant attention as efficient metal-free electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Nonetheless, their effectiveness is impeded by insufficient electrical conductivity. To enhance the overall conductivity and efficiency of ZIF-8 particles, the one-dimensional porous carbon was synthesized using a polymer generated from resorcinol and formaldehyde (RF) as a binder. The results suggest that the presence of the one-dimensional structure not only enhances electron transfer among ZIF-8 particles and preserves a substantial effective porosity but also endows the material with exceptional ORR activity in 0.1 M KOH electrolyte.
