Abstract
The tribological behavior of dialkyldithiophosphate capped MoS2 nanoparticle LB (Langmuir Blodgett) films on copper, silver and gold substrates was studied. The structural changes during rubbing process were investigated by means of Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy. The LB film can lower the friction coefficients of copper and silver substrates. A transfer film is formed on the steel counter surface with tribochemical change which mainly includes disordering conversion and partial decomposition of surface-modifying agent. The nucleus of MoS2 nanoparticles plays an important role in load carrying and wear resistance.
