Abstract

RC (Reinforced Concrete) structures FRP (Fiber Reinforced Pressure) composite material is used to strengthen the based on the empirical knowledge gained through testing. We establish a theoretical model for the engineering computation of the strengthening effect of FRP composite material layers bounded to a RC beam under the action of static symmetric loading. Based on the linear assumption for the model and the mechanical parameters of the material, we propose an effective finite element model. Then we use the MARC software to analyze a numerical example of the RC beam. The calculated results show that the strength and stiffness of the RC beam is significantly increased through strengthening. And the finite element model is effective.
