Abstract

Gear mechanism is the most popular transmission mechanism, however, conventional design methods are complex and inaccurate. The optimum design solves the abovementioned problems effectively by means of applying to gear design. In numerous of optimization software, MATLAB holds obvious predominance on program and numerical calculation. Taking single gear transmission as an example, the math model of gear is founded, systematically, on the base of analyzing the foundation of goal function, the selection of design variables and the confirmation of restrictive conditions. The results solved by SQP algorithm prove out that the optimum design, by MATLAB, is effective, reliable and simple.
