Abstract

Fe particles of various shape and size were found under the peeling damage of Cu-Fe-P finish rolled sheet by energy scanning electron microscope and dispersive spectroscope. By using finite element analysis, the effect of Fe particle shape on peeling damage in the copper alloy lead frame was studied. There is intense stress concentration in Fe when the shape of Fe particles is sharp. Broken Fe particles were found. The equivalent stress and strain mismatch of the interface between Fe particles and Cu matrix is the main factor of crack and cause of surface peeling, especially with sharp Fe particles.
