Abstract

In 2 O 3 hollow microspheres (HMs) were synthesized by a facile route with low-cost yeast as a bio-template. The prepared In 2 O 3 HMs maintained the morphology of the yeast, which was uniform ellipsoids with an average length of 2 μm. Gas sensing measurements showed that the obtained In 2 O 3 HMs have excellent selectivity for chlorine (Cl 2 ). Furthermore, the possible formation and gas sensing mechanisms of the In 2 O 3 HMs have been proposed.
