Surface-wave Transmission Analysis on Dielectric Coated Conducting Wires

Abstract

A surface-wave transmission line along with a launcher consisting of a λ/4 coaxial impedance transformer and a conical horn is designed. The surface-wave longitudinal attenuation, radial decay and phase velocity on copper wires coated with and without dielectrics are analyzed. The results could provide guidelines for the surface-wave transmission line design in the long-distance power transfer application in complex environment.
