Abstract
Piezoelectric shunting based on the directly piezoelectric effect has been known as a simple, low-lost, lightweight and easily-to implement method for the passive damping control of structure vibration. In the aeronautical and aeronautical applications, considering of the operational and manufacturing constraints, such as added mass, maximum strain, structure space and cost, the concept about piezoelectric shunt damping effectiveness relative to the area of PZT transducer was proposed in our study. The effect of the effective electromechanical coupling coefficient k31 on vibration suppression was also analyzed. The vibration control experiment on clamped aluminum plate with passive serial R-L piezoelectric shunt circuit was performed. And it clearly comes to a conclusion that the vibration control efficiency of piezoelectric shunt damping system declines, which is followed the area of PZT transducers increased. However, it is much obvious that the amplitude reduction of plate was increased successfully. In practical applications, the effect of vibration control, added mass, cost and other factors should be traded off.
