Abstract

This study presents the use of contiguous aperture antenna radome as a method of generating circularly polarized signals from a linear polarization antenna which locates under the structure. The simulated results of the novel structure with single antenna and 2*2 antennas array are demonstrated for L-band operation. It is shown that 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of 42 MHz and 32 MHz can be achieved with appropriate parameters design under the two situations. In addition, the structure is also built as a director which can greatly improve the gain of the antenna and antenna array.
