Abstract

As a paradigm of Internet of Things (IoT), social sensor cloud (SSC), which connects the social networks and the sensor networks as well as the cloud, is receiving growing attention from both the academic and industrial communities. Aiming to be a timely guidance with respect to SSC, this article investigates SSC from four perspectives: framework, greenness, issues, and outlook. Specifically, a framework for SSC is introduced first. Then, with the initiative to reduce the carbon footprint, the mechanisms that enable green SSC are discussed. With that, the open research issues for SSC are presented. Finally, an outlook for SSC is shown.
