Abstract

Realistic eye animation is very important for facial expressions. We proposed a novel 3D human eye animation model using compliant spatial mechanism model. This method integrates the features of the traditional muscle model with those of the compliant spatial mechanism model. In this method, compliant spatial mechanism model is used to describe eye opening and closing and the movements of the eye boundary points; the muscle model is used to control eye non-boundary points, the parts of frontalis, corrugator, and so on. Experimental results and their analysis show preliminarily that this method can describe the physical characteristics of eye movements and can obtain realistic and natural eye expression animation.
