Abstract

For blisk, a big portion of the raw materials needs to be removed by roughing before the finishing process. The ruled surfaces were used to approximate the freeform surface of blade, attention was focused on the 5-axis plunge milling of blisk's tunnel. And the boundary contour of the tunnel was then determined. The tool paths for plunge milling tunnel region were generated by linking the corresponding points between tool centre curves and tool axis drive curves. The proposed strategy can improve the machining efficiency about 50%, and the vibration phenomenon during roughing is suppressed completely.
