Abstract
Recent research on the microstructures and oxidation behaviors of several kinds of high-performance coatings for C/C composites were introduced. The results show that the coatings such as SiC-Al2O3-mullite, SiC whisker-toughened ceramics and yttrium silicate coatings possess excellent oxidation resistance at 1500°C, and some of them have excellent thermal shock resistance. The yttrium silicate coating prepared by in situ formation method has superior oxidation resistance, which can effectively protect C/C composites from oxidation at 1600°C for more than 200h. In addition, the protection and failure mechanisms of some coatings at high temperature were discussed, and the main research directions of anti-oxidation coatings for C/C composites in the future were also proposed.
