Abstract

The prepared couples of Nb/Ti were hold at 850, 700, 550°C for 5 h, and then cooled in furnace or quenched. The property and mechanics of the diffusion between Nb and Ti, the thickness of the NbTi alloy layers and the differences of microstructures of NbTi alloy layers among the samples quenched and cooled in furnace were studied. The results show that the ideal microstructure and good superconducting performances of NbTi wires can be acquired by optimizing the diffusion heat treatment.
