Reinforcing and toughening carbon/carbon composites by controlling carbon nanotube growth position in carbon felt

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The flexural properties of C/C composites reinforced by in situ grown CNTs are reported. The effect of nanotube growth position, on the fibers or in the spaces between them, was investigated. A method of reinforcing as well as toughening the composites by introducing CNTs into the carbon matrix is proposed and the corresponding mechanisms are discussed.
