Abstract
The history of China's Ti industry is described. Also discussed are China's Ti resource, progresses in the development and application of Ti alloys. After nearly 40 years of R & D experience, China's Ti industry has reached the production capacity of 3 650 tons of Ti sponge and 2 800 tons of Ti mill products. An integrated Ti industry system has been established in China, from Ti sponge production to Ti ingot melting, casting processing and equipment fabrication. The Ti materials have been widely used in chemical and aerospace industries as well as many other industrial sectors in China. Some of the experiences and lessons learned in the dovelopment of China's Ti industry are summarized in the paper. With the rapidly growing Chinese economy, the market for Ti is very attractive in the near term. The future outlook for China's Ti industry is also discussed.
