Quick way for designing CAPP algorithm for producing automotive panel through pressing process

Abstract

The past design of CAPP (computer aided process planning) algorithm for producing automotive panel through pressing process required frequent revisions owing to some defects in accurately describing the geometric features of automotive panel. A quick way for designing such CAPP algorithm is based on the successful solution of accurate description problems of such geometric features. How to describe the geometric features and their coding process needed in the quick way of designing CAPP algorithm were discussed. The quick way of designing CAPP was used in a car-manufacturing factory in China. Results show that the frequent revisions are indeed eliminated.
