Primary experimental study on liquid ablatant for laser propulsion

Abstract

A TEA CO2 laser was employed to ablate spray droplets for laser propulsion. Impulse coupling coefficient was derived from the force sensor data. Experimental results indicate that coupling coefficient Cm was largely dependent on droplet Sauter mean diameter (SMD), velocity and their joint distribution.
