Abstract

As a main failure appearing in splitting spinning process, radial crack restricts metal forming limit. To predict radial crack and forming limit is difficult for the complexity of splitting spinning process. By embedding Lemaitre and Cockcroft-Latham criteria into VUMAT(user material subroutine(VUMAT) of the ABAQUS/Explicit FEM code), two FE models are built for predicting radial crack in split spinning process. After analysis two conclusions can be induced. Lemaitre criteria can predict damage distribution and the position where damage occurs accurately and predict the time when damage occurs during splitting spinning process less accurately. While Cockcroft-Latham criteria can not predict damage distribution in splitting spinning process successfully.
