Abstract

A double bypass variable cycle engine is considered. The method for steady-state performance simulation model of VCE is developed. A component-based simulation system for VCE is established based on object-oriented modeling method. The performance for VCE is achieved by performing the VCE model which is formed by the component models in the simulation system. For obtaining the optimal design of VCE the optimization method is required. The VCE cycle parameters optimization problem which contains six design variables and four constraints and with the objective on maximize specific thrust at takeoff condition is solved by employing the RSM based SQP algorithm. The result shows that the optimal design of VCE is significantly improved in performance. Comparisons are carried out between the RSM based optimization method and DE algorithm, and the results show that the RSM based SQP algorithm is more competitive on efficiency and robustness than DE algorithm. And it can meet the requirement of VCE cycle parameters optimization.
