On improving visualization of forging process with 3D FEM mesh

Abstract

On the basis of existing method of hidden lines removal and 3D finite element mesh, the method of gradual hidden lines removal combined outward normal method with method of comparison of surface with line was proposed to implement effectively visibility of 3D mesh. The visible surfaces of each element were judged by outward normal method, the possible visible surfaces and lines were searched by elimination method, the hidden relations of lines and surfaces were rough judged to speed removal, and the intersection operations using method of comparison of surface with line were performed. The simulation results have shown that the method is feasible and reliable.
