Novel method for measuring optical homogeneity of transparent medium plate based on laser resonant cavity

Abstract

A new method for measuring optical homogeneity of transparent medium plate based on laser resonant cavity is presented, in which the measurement of the refractive index difference of a transparent medium plate can be obtained by measuring the frequency difference of the laser resonant cavity due to the insert of the medium plate. The experiment results on two samples show that the measurement sensitivity in optical homogeneity can be over an order of 10-5. In the end, error analyses to experiment results and the proper measuring range of the method are discussed.
