New adaptive blind beam-forming algorithm

Abstract

Smart antenna of DS-CDMA (direct sequence-code division multiple access) system can expand its communicating region and improve its properties of anti-interference. So study on adaptive beam forming algorithms of smart antenna plays a key role in technology of smart antenna. We present a new adaptive blind beam-forming algorithm for DS-CDMA system. The algorithm is based on the finite symbol property of the digital signal in combination with the traditional adaptive algorithm, which is called the normalized least mean square (NLMS) algorithm. Therefore, the algorithm has very low computational complexity and can easily be used in some special fields of real-time applications. Computer simulation results are presented to show that the algorithm exhibits some good performances such as excellent convergence, tracking capability and lower BER (bit error rate).
