Multidisciplinary design optimization based missile conceptual design

Abstract

Currently, Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) technology was served as complement to traditional design, which limited the potential of MDO. To deal with this problem, the concepts of multidisciplinary concurrent design was introduced to the entire process of missile design, and a two-phase design process, including Multidisciplinary Design (MD) and Multidisciplinary Optimization (MO) was presented. The benchmark of missile could be designed in MD phase and optimized in MO phase. Five data models were constructed to support two design phases, and based on these models the methods to describe MD and MO were analyzed. According to the design process and modeling method studied, the software framework to support MDO-based conceptual design process of missile was constructed. Finally, a MDO prototype system oriented to missile design was developed by using VC++.
