Abstract

In modern air-to-air (AA) combat, a fighter's maneuver is always implemented by the pilot complying with Pilot Operation Procedure (POP). In the ground simulation of AA combat state, the model of the fighter's maneuver is required to simulate POP instructions to satisfy the pilot's need in beyond and within visual range combat. Based on the theory of AA combat maneuver, the combat course can be divided into different phases that are mainly determined by the working state of airborne radar and weapon aiming. The kinematical features of the fighter's maneuver were analyzed in these phases. According to these features, the relations between the fighter's maneuver and airborne radar's working state and AA missile's launch were respectively modeled. The model can reflect not only the maneuver features but also the relations between the fighter's maneuver and airborne radar and AA missile. With the model, the POP instructions can be simulated to support the pilot-in-loop AA combat simulation. Results of a 1vs1 AA combat simulation show that the model is rational and feasible.
