Abstract
The Alloy Ti40 is a highly stabilized beta titanium alloy with good burn resistance. Its microstructure was examined and analyzed using OM, SEM, XRD and EDX. The results reveal that Ti40 is a single β phase alloy. The as-cast structure exhibits quadpoint boundaries and white zones around the grain boundaries. The recrystallization and the second recrystallization temperatures are 820°C and 1 100°C respectively. After solution treatment at temperatures greater than 910°C and aging at 600°C. As a result, the alloy exhibits good comprehensive mechanical properties.
