Abstract

The microstructures, mechanical properties and texture evolutions of Ti-45Nb alloy wires in different dimensions were investigated in the present work. Results show that, the tensile strength of Ti-45Nb alloy firstly decreased and then increased with increasing the sizes of Ti-45Nb alloy wires. However, the tensile plasticity and tear strength changed slightly. Obviously, the distribution of the grains in Ti-45Nb alloy wires after cold drawing is inhomogeneous and the main texture component of <110> fiber texture is introduced due to the large deformation. No macroscopic crack is found out in the wires with different diameters after cold upsetting treatments, indicating that the Ti-45Nb alloy wires have good properties for cold deformation and forming.
