Abstract

The centers for disease control need to monitor particular areas during infectious diseases outbreaks. Point-of-care diagnostics can provide effective detection which could create an 'internet of things' (IoT) for healthcare via connecting with network. We show an integrated IoT system based on polymerase chain reaction for disease detection and monitoring its spreading. We demonstrated the system's capability by amplification of complementary deoxyribonucleic acid from dengue fever virus. The results were then automatically uploaded via Bluetooth interface to users' smartphone and further sent to global network, instantly making the test results available anywhere in the world.
