Abstract

To solve the shortcomings of smooth fiber surface and improve the tribological performance of resin matrix composite, MWCNT and GNPs are anchored on carbon fiber surface by grafting method. The microstructure of MWCNT/GNPs and the surface performance of carbon fibers are characterized by TEM, SEM and Raman. The tribological performance of composite was analyzed with high-speed reciprocating friction and wear tester. The results show that the wear rate of composite decreases with the introduction of MWCNT and GNPs. When MWCNT and GNPs synergistically modified fiber surface, the wear rate is reduced by 72%. It is concluded that MWCNT and GNPs can effectively improve wear resistance of resin composite.
