Abstract

Realistic eye animation is very important for facial expressions. This paper proposed a novel 3D human eye animation model by introducing compliant spatial mechanisms and integrating the features of both the traditional muscle model and compliant spatial mechanisms model. In this method, according to eye structure and eye movement characteristics, compliant spatial mechanisms model is used to describe movements of the eye boundary points, and the muscle model is used to control eye non-boundary points, such as the parts of frontalis and corrugator and so on. Experimental results show that this method is not only realized simply but also reflects more eye area details, thus gives a better eye expression animation.
