Abstract

The co-axial pilot and main module combustor is proposed to satisfy the requirements of high temperature rise combustors, especially meet the acceptable lean blowout (LBO) fuel air ratio (FAR) at lower conditions. The primary zone is separated into pilot and main combustion zone, there is only pilot module is working at low power conditions with relative rich equivalence ratio, in order to hold the flame stable at pilot combustion zone. The LBO characteristic was investigated with a single flame tube combustor test rig. The experimental results indicate that the LBO FAR is 0.0057 at the inlet temperature is 489K and inlet pressure is 0.49MPa. As the increase of inlet pressure, the LBO FAR decreased significantly. The LBO FAR is increased with the increase of pressure loss over the condition range in this experiment.
