Abstract

The experimental study on increasing the operation frequency of PDE (pulse detonation engine) prototype is performed with gasoline as fuel and compressed air as oxidizers by improving air source, ignition structure and fuel atomization effect, A maximum operation frequency of 35 Hz is realized and the PDE performance is acquired to give the averaged thrust of 142.8 N. The detonation pressures and averaged thrust are measured under different operation frequencies. The measured detonation wave pressure, speed and structure are close to the theoretical values of steady and fully-developed detonation wave. The averaged thrust of PDE increases almost linearly with the operation frequency.
