Experiment and calculation on erosion of carbon cloth rubber insulation eroded by particles

Abstract

The erosion experiments of a kind of carbon cloth rubber insulation material eroded by particles were carried out and the influences of concentration and velocity of particle on the erosion of insulation were investigated. The experimental results show that the velocity of particle has greater effect on erosion of insulation than the concentration of particle. When the velocity of particle is low, the erosion rate is relatively small even if the concentration value of particle is very high. An ablation computation model based on carbonization ablation model was developed according to the experimental results, that is first the relationship between the carbonization layer thickness with the erosion state parameters was set up on the basis of the experimental data, then the conventional carbonization erosion computation model was used for calculation of erosion rate. The computation results agreed with the experimental results to a certain extent.
