Abstract

The corrosion resistance at 500°C, 10. 3MPa steam has been investigated for the zircaloy-4 tubing with different surface conditions. The results indicate that surface conditions have a strong influence on the nodular corrosion resistance of zircaloy-4. Acid pickling may improve nodular corrosion resistance and pre-filmed treatment can delay nodular corrosion. Optimum nodular corrosion resistance can be obtained for the zircaloy-4 tubing pre-filmed after acid pickling.
