Abstract

In order to study the effects of enforced phase size on the tensile properties of 4D in-plane C/C composite, the change of tensile properties caused by the varied fiber rod diameters was investigated by microstructure observation, meso-mechanics and macro-mechanics experiment. Results show that in the case of keeping the braid parameters, the cracks are increased with the fiber bundles diameters, this results in the decrease of the tensile strength of material. However, the modulus does not have a significant change with the fiber rod diameter varied.
