Abstract

Effects of different Cu and Mo contents on microstructure and mechanical properties of horizontal continuous cast ductile iron profiles with 60 mm in diameters were investigated. The results reveal that, with adding Cu and Mo elements, cast ductile iron profiles with pearlite or astenite-bainite structure can be obtained. At a fixed Mo addition, austenite-bainite structure in the cast ductile iron profiles is controlled by Cu content. Tensile strength, yield strength and hardness of the alloy are greatly improved with Cu and Mo addition, however, impacting toughness is slightly decreased.
