Abstract

The effects of alloy addition on the glass forming ability, thermal stability and mechanical properties of Mg-Cu-Tb-based bulk metallic glasses were investigated. It was found that appropriate additions of Ag, Zn or Be in Mg65Cu25Tb10 could not only improve the glass forming ability, but also enhance the strength and plasticity of these amorphous metallic alloys within a certain composition range.
