Abstract

The finite element model of a radome made of composite material for the purpose of simulating bird striking was set up. Using shell elements to simulate the radome, simultaneously attaching the ALE elements for air around the bird, the process of bird striking the composite radome was simulated using the display dynamic analysis software LS-DYNA, the damage response of the radome was analyzed. The results showed that in the impact process, the peak stress mainly distributes in surrounding of the impacted area; in the part area, layers of different materials withstand different strains.
