Distributed collaborative platform of product designing based on grid portal

Abstract

To support product collaborative design among dynamic alliance, a distributed collaborative design platform based on grid portal was proposed. Abstract collaborative concept model was the base for this platform. In this platform, an opening architecture of grid service was established to realize design resources sharing and application integration of alliance's entity. The min-cost tactic based on Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) was utilized in project task scheduling, and the problems of grid resource discovery and description were solved by the method of extensible Markup Language (XML) combined with Light Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Guided by design and management process of product development, two design patterns were introduced to exhibit that the platform could provide support from different angles in design process. In addition, the key implementation techniques and the application of the aircraft design project were introduced, and the results demonstrated the applicability of this platform.
